Richard Yan is founder of the Richina Group of companies. He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Richina Group. Mr. Yan was appointed the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Richina Pacific in October 1999 and prior to that, he was Deputy Chairman of RPL, a position he held for four years.

Mr. Yan's association with New Zealand began in 1981, when he came from China on a Rotary Scholarship  to  study  at  Auckland  Grammar

School. Richard then went on to the University of Auckland where he graduated with BA and BCom degrees. He also has an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School. Before forming Richina, Mr. Yan worked in the investment banking industry and held a number of positions with Westpac Banking Corporation, and Bankers Trust Company.
